1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Hobbyist, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Hobbyist. By using our service, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.

3. Account Registration

• You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
• You must not share your account with others
• You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account

4. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

• Use Hobbyist for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
• Harass, abuse, threaten, or intimidate other users
• Post false, misleading, or fraudulent content
• Impersonate another person or entity
• Upload content containing malware, viruses, or harmful code
• Scrape, data mine, or use automated tools to collect user data
• Spam or send unsolicited messages to users
• Use the platform for commercial solicitation without permission
• Use the platform for dating or romantic purposes (Hobbyist is for activity partners only)
• Misuse the equipment lending features (claiming items you don't intend to bring, damaging borrowed equipment)
• Repeatedly fail to attend activities you've RSVP'd to (this affects your reliability badge)
• Manipulate or abuse the reliability badge system

5. User Content

You retain ownership of content you post on Hobbyist. However, by posting content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute your content in connection with the service.

You are solely responsible for your content and the consequences of posting it. We reserve the right to remove content that violates these Terms.

6. Safety and Meetups

Hobbyist is a platform for connecting people with shared interests. We are not responsible for interactions between users, including meetups and activities. You participate in all activities at your own risk.

7. Location Data

Hobbyist uses your location to show nearby users and activities. By using our service, you consent to the collection and use of location data as described in our Privacy Policy.

8. AI Features

Hobbyist uses AI-powered features to enhance your experience:

• AI assistants help you create activity descriptions and suggest improvements
• AI-generated content is provided as suggestions only - you control what gets published
• AI conversations are processed by third-party AI services (Anthropic Claude)
• You are responsible for reviewing and approving any AI-generated content before publishing

We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or appropriateness of AI-generated suggestions.

9. Equipment and Gear Sharing

Hobbyist provides features for coordinating equipment sharing between activity participants:

• Equipment coordination is facilitated between users but is ultimately a private arrangement
• Hobbyist is not responsible for damage to, loss of, or disputes regarding shared equipment
• Users who borrow equipment are responsible for returning it in the same condition
• Users who lend equipment do so at their own risk
• Any agreements about equipment sharing are between users and not guaranteed by Hobbyist

10. Reliability Badges

Hobbyist awards reliability badges based on your activity attendance history:

• Gold Badge: 90%+ attendance rate across your RSVPs
• Silver Badge: 70-89% attendance rate
• Bronze Badge: Building reliability with 3+ activities

Reliability badges are displayed publicly on your profile. Repeatedly failing to attend activities you've RSVP'd to may result in badge loss and could lead to account restrictions.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, for violation of these Terms or for any other reason. You may delete your account at any time through the app settings.

12. Disclaimers

HOBBYIST IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE.

We do not conduct background checks on users. We are not responsible for the conduct of any user, including during in-person meetups.

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, HOBBYIST SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY.

14. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes via email or in-app notification. Your continued use of Hobbyist after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of your jurisdiction, without regard to conflict of law principles.
